Burglars on prowl most in January

An analysis of Victorian crime data shows that the month of January tends to have the state’s highest incidence of reported burglaries. The number of burglaries that occur in January is eight per cent higher than the monthly average. Superintendent Tim Hansen of Victoria Police says many burglaries that occur in January are opportunistic, with criminals taking advantage of the fact that people are often away from home on holidays
