Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has ruled out increasing the GST to finance income tax cuts, after telling Coalition MPs that economic modelling has shown that it would not be economic feasible. The modelling showed that using a higher GST to finance company tax cuts would achieve the greatest economic benefit. Meanwhile, Australian Industry Group CEO officer Innes Willox has proposed reducing the company tax rate from 30 per cent to 20 per cent by scrapping the dividend imputation system.

It was the smallest petroleum deficit since August 2010, and followed the commencement of production at the three LNG processing plants at Gladstone in Queensland. Australia’s LNG production rose by 48 per cent year-on-year in December, although the downturn in the crude oil price resulted in LNG export revenue falling by 0.5 per to $A1.575bn.

Original article by Darren Davidson
The Australian – Page: 19 & 22 : 9-Feb-16

The contracts of KIIS 106.5 FM breakfast show hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson expire at the end of 2016. However, Southern Cross Media Group CEO Grant Blackley says his company has not held talks with the popular duo about returning to 2DayFM. There has been a sharp fall in the radio station’s ratings and revenue since they left in 2014. Meanwhile, Blackley says Southern Cross could potentially end its affiliation agreement with Ten Network if cross-media ownership reforms proceed.
