Market Research Update – Page: Online : 10-Feb-15

The ANZ-Roy Morgan Consumer Confidence rating for Australia fell by 0.6 per cent to 111.7 in the week ended 8 February 2015. The modest change likely reflects the positive impact from interest rate cuts, somewhat offset by concerns about the economy and federal government leadership speculation. Confidence in the economic outlook over the next year fell by 3.6 per cent, but expectations of household finances compared with a year ago rose by 1.3 per cent. This sub-index is most correlated with household spending

Morgan Poll Update – Page: Online : 9-Feb-15

A multi-mode Morgan Poll on Federal voting intention has found that support for the Coalition on a two-party preferred basis has fallen by one per cent to 42.5 per cent. The poll, which was carried out on the weekends of 31 January-1 February and 7-8 February 2015, also shows that support for the Australian Labor Party has risen by one per cent to 57.5 per cent. Roy Morgan Research executive chairman Gary Morgan says that following the defeat of the motion for a leadership spill, the New South Wales election will be the next test for Prime Minister Tony Abbott, and a close result or a loss would throw the Liberal Party back into "crisis mode"
