Boycott grows over judgment by activist

Herald & Weekly Times MD Peter Blunden has advised that its newspapers will boycott all Australian Press Council rulings in which new board member Carla McGrath participates. The boycott was initiated by HWT parent News Corp Australia in response to the appointment of McGrath, who also chairs political activist group GetUp. Community Newspapers of Australia has indicated that it may also boycott APC rulings.

Third of super funds ‘vulnerable’

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) has found evidence of insufficient awareness of conflicts of interest among superannuation funds. A third of the 40 funds reviewed by APRA were found to have policies on conflicts of interest that were judged to be "weak" or "vulnerable". APRA will send a letter to super funds about the need for more vigilance in this area

Vizeum sees no conflict in roles

Media buying agency Vizeum faces concerns that its representation of real estate agents breaches competition laws. It has confirmed that it is acting for Real Estate Digital Marketing Services to negotiate ad rates with online classifieds portal REA Group. Questions have been asked about the involvement of Norman Draper, who is linked to REA rival Domain. Vizeum said that there was no conflict of interests, as it was acting for a not-for-profit organisation
