Supreme Court of Western Australia (WA) judge James Edelman has ruled in a matter that forms part of the wider and drawn-out legal battle between Chinese state enterprise Citic Pacific and the Mineralogy vehicle of federal MP Clive Palmer. The latter had sought to have declared invalid two environmental permits held by Citic for the Sino Iron joint venture in WA. This was rejected by the court, and Edelman also criticised Mineralogy for attempting to drag out the proceedings even further

Supreme Court of Queensland judge David Jackson is hearing a claim by Chinese state enterprise Citic Pacific against its iron ore mining joint venture partner, federal politician Clive Palmer. Citic alleges that he improperly accessed an account and withdrew $A12.167m to fund his election campaign. Simon Couper QC, acting for Palmer, has formally conceded some of the points and argues the case should now be dropped. Andrew Bell SC, for Citic, says the admissions merely show that fraud did occur

Chinese state enterprise Citic Pacific is reportedly handing over material to police in Western Australia (WA) that could lead to fraud charges against federal MP and businessman Clive Palmer. His Mineralogy vehicle is accused by Citic in a series of civil cases of making unauthorised withdrawals worth $A12m-plus from an account for an iron ore mining joint venture. The funds are claimed to have been used for the 2103 election campaign of the Palmer United Party. Citic wants WA Supreme Court judge David Jackson QC to rule that Palmer acted fraudulently and dishonestly

Chinese state enterprise Citic Pacific is suing private vehicles of iron ore joint venture partner Clive Palmer over alleged unauthorised access to an account and the withdrawal of a total $A12,167,065. Evidence tendered to the Supreme Court of Queensland shows some of the funds were channelled to the Media Circus Network public relations firm during the federal election campaign of the Palmer United Party. The latest document lodged by the defence indicates that a cheque for $A6m was written by Palmer personally

Supreme Court of Queensland judge David Jackson has ruled that a court case brought by Chinese state enterprise Citic against businesses of iron ore venture partner Clive Palmer will go ahead. It is alleged that he took more than $A12m out of a joint bank account and then used the funds to finance the 2013 federal election campaign of his Palmer United Party. Jackson conceded that a compromise solution put forward by Palmer’s Mineralogy vehicle should perhaps have been accepted by Citic before launching the legal action

Billionaire businessman and Australian federal MP Clive Palmer is engaged in litigation with Chinese state enterprise Citic Pacific over iron ore royalties. When asked about the lawsuits on TV, he said the Chinese Government was looking to exploit Australia, and he used terms such as "mongrels" and "bastards". The Australian Government as well as business leaders have now sought to repair the damage to the relationship with the nation’s foremost trading partner. Palmer refused to withdraw the attack, other than to clarify it was not aimed at the Chinese people. One of the senators from his Palmer United Party, Jacqui Lambie, also said China’s military expansion posed a serious threat
