1 in 10 Kiwis have Netflix

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that 10.9 per cent of New Zealanders aged 14+ (or 398,000 people) had a Netflix subscription in the three months to June 2015. In addition, 9.4 per cent of New Zealand homes (or 164,000) had a Netflix subscription. The survey also shows that Young Couple households are the most likely to have Netflix (16.9 per cent), just ahead of Young Parents (16 per cent) and households comprising Young Singles (14.3 per cent). Mid-Life Families have also been more likely than average to subscribe (11.7 per cent).

ANZ-Roy Morgan New Zealand Consumer Confidence – Cold Snap

The ANZ-Roy Morgan New Zealand Consumer Confidence Index has fallen from 119.9 in June 2015 to 113.9 in July, which is its lowest level in almost three years. Sentiment has fallen by 15 points so far in 2015 and is now below its historical average of 119.1. The Current Conditions Index has fallen from 122.6 to 119.0, while the Future Conditions Index has eased from 118.1 to 110.4. Meanwhile, a net four per cent of New Zealanders believe that they are financially better off compared with last year.

Pup culture and crazy cat people: pet ownership in NZ

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that 2.1 million New Zealanders aged 14+ (or 58 per cent) have at least one cat and/or dog, and 330,000 pay for pet care services in an average month. Some 45 per cent of New Zealanders have a pet cat, while 31 per cent have a pet dog, while 18 per cent have at least one cat and one dog. The survey, which was carried out in the year to October 2014, also shows that 50 per cent of residents in Auckland and Wellington own a cat and/or a dog.

The ANZ-Roy Morgan New Zealand Consumer Confidence Index has fallen from 128.8 in April 2015 to 123.9 in May. This compares with a long-term average of 117.9. Stripping out seasonal noise, the index showed a three-point fall, but it remains well above historical averages. The Current Conditions Index fell from 130.3 to 124.6, while the Future Conditions Index eased from 127.8 to 123.4. Meanwhile, a net seven per cent of New Zealanders believe that they are financially better off compared with last year.

Cola is king in Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that cola beverages feature heavily among the most popular soft drinks in Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. Coca-Cola is consumed by 19 per cent of Australians aged 14+ in an average seven days, followed by Coke Zero (8 per cent) and Diet Coke (5 per cent). Meanwhile, 25 per cent of New Zealanders aged 14+ drink Coca-Cola in an average seven days, ahead of Sprite (12 per cent) and Coke Zero (10 per cent). Some 14 per cent of Indonesians aged 14+ drink Big Cola in an average seven-day period, ahead of Fanta (just over 12 per cent), and Coca Cola (almost 12 per cent)

A Roy Morgan telephone survey has found that 40 per cent of New Zealanders aged 14+ regard economic issues as the most important problem facing the nation. This is followed by government/public policy and human rights issues (26 per cent) and social issues (15 per cent). The survey, which was carried in March 2015, also shows that 41 per cent of New Zealanders rate war and terrorism as the biggest problem facing the world, followed by economic issues (25 per cent)

Go the blues: Kiwis who play team sports less likely to report depression, anxiety or stress

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that 10 per cent of New Zealanders aged 18+ reported experiencing depression at some point in the past year. This compares with just six per cent of those who regularly play a team sport. The survey, which was carried out in the two years to December 2014, also shows that some nine per cent of New Zealanders overall suffered from anxiety, well above the six per cent of regular team sport players. Meanwhile, 18 per cent experienced stress, compared with 15 per cent of team sports players

The ANZ-Roy Morgan New Zealand Consumer Confidence Index has risen from 124.0 in February 2015 to 124.6 in March. Stripping out the seasonal noise, the index showed a three point lift. The Current Conditions Index rose from 123.0 to 123.7, which is still consistent with solid rates of consumer spending, while the Future Conditions Index nudged up from 124.6 to 125.3, reinforcing the optimistic tone
