Chinese state enterprise Citic Pacific is reportedly handing over material to police in Western Australia (WA) that could lead to fraud charges against federal MP and businessman Clive Palmer. His Mineralogy vehicle is accused by Citic in a series of civil cases of making unauthorised withdrawals worth $A12m-plus from an account for an iron ore mining joint venture. The funds are claimed to have been used for the 2103 election campaign of the Palmer United Party. Citic wants WA Supreme Court judge David Jackson QC to rule that Palmer acted fraudulently and dishonestly

BHP pulls Nickel West sale as no buyer found

Original article by Barry FitzGerald
The Australian – Page: 20 : 13-Nov-14

BHP Billiton has abandoned its efforts to divest the Nickel West mining and smelting assets, as it was unable to find a buyer willing to pay a suitable price. The operations had been excluded from the non-core divisions to be hived off into a new listed entity by BHP as it concentrates on iron ore, copper, petroleum and coal. Analysts’ valuations for Nickel West had fluctuated wildly between $A250m and $A1bn, and the sale was hampered by a drop in the commodity’s price from $US21,000 a tonne in May 2014 to $US15,451 in November

Western Australian (WA) magistrate Stephen Wilson has found against the Mineralogy group, and declared its mining licence application in breach of the federal Native Title Act as well as WA’s Mining Act. The private vehicle of billionaire and federal MP Clive Palmer has also been criticised by the traditional Kuruma Marthudunera land owners, with Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation CEO Simon Hawkins noting that Mineralogy has been cited by the mining warden over such flawed practices three times in a decade

Chinese state enterprise Citic Pacific is suing private vehicles of iron ore joint venture partner Clive Palmer over alleged unauthorised access to an account and the withdrawal of a total $A12,167,065. Evidence tendered to the Supreme Court of Queensland shows some of the funds were channelled to the Media Circus Network public relations firm during the federal election campaign of the Palmer United Party. The latest document lodged by the defence indicates that a cheque for $A6m was written by Palmer personally
