The New South Wales (NSW) Government remains non-committal on whether it will reform liquor laws rolled out in February 2014. They force the operators of licensed venues in the Sydney CBD and Kings Cross area to "lock out" patrons after 1.30am, and finish selling alcohol at 3am. A review will take place in mid-2015. While pubs and clubs want the regulations to be scaled back, their extension to all of the state is backed by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the NSW Police Association

Saxon Smith, president of the Australian Medical Association’s New South Wales (NSW) branch, says it will lobby fiercely against any move to allow pharmacists to carry out more vaccinations. The NSW branch director of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, Steven Drew, had claimed that such a proposal had been given in-principle support by State Health Minister Jillian Skinner. However the Government and pharmacists remain at loggerheads over the extent of qualifications needed in order to offer the service. It has been successfully trialled in Queensland

The New South Wales (NSW) Government says air quality will be watched closely near ventilation stacks for the proposed NorthConnex tunnel. It will link the M1 and M2 motorways in Sydney and cost $A3bn, and has sparked concern about the impact of pollution in the upper north shore area among doctors of the Australian Medical Association’s NSW branch and the Asthma Foundation of NSW. Local resident and medical practitioner Ray Nassar is handing the Government a petition with 250 signatures by colleagues
