NSW detectives from Strike Force Pearl have arrested former Bankstown Hospital nurse Sarah Abu Lebdeh several weeks after she and a male colleague threatened to kill Israeli patients. The 26-year-old has been charged with three commonwealth offences, including threatening violence to a group, the use of a carriage service to threaten to kill, and use of a carriage service to menace, harass or offend. Police Commissioner Karen Webb says the charges have been laid following a lot of hard work, as well as legal advice received from the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions on Tuesday. Ahmad Rashad Nadir has yet to be charged over the antisemitic rant that was recorded by Israeli social media influencer Max Veifer.

Veteran broadcaster Alan Jones was charged on Monday with 24 counts of historical sexual and assault ­offences by NSW police, with his lawyer, Chris Murphy, saying Jones "denies any misconduct" and will "assert" his innocence in court. The charges followed Jones’ arrest at his Circular Quay apartment at around 7.45am, with his alleged offences involving eight males. Assistant commissioner in charge of state crimes Michael Fitzgerald told a press conference that the youngest of Jones’s alleged victims was 17, and that police ­believe more people would come forward with allegations against Jones; Jones was granted conditional bail to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on 18 December.

The trial of Brian Thomas Bradbury over the death of his wife in 2011 had been due to start in the Supreme Court. On 15 December 2014, a ruling was handed down that the state should compensate the accused for his legal costs. Store owner charged with three counts of murder

On 23 September 2014, a man was charged with murder, after an explosion at a convenience store in Rozelle in Sydney killed three people on 4 September. The owner of the store was charged with three counts of murder, three counts of manslaughter and two of attempted murder, as well as 17 offences relating to the property damage from the fire. The man was in financial difficulties and lit the fire to gain an insurance payout
