The Australian Labor Party has promised to impose restrictions on political advertising in Victoria if it wins the state election on 29 November 2014. Advertisements will be restricted to the promotion of workplace health and safety, community matters and changes in personal behaviour

The Victorian Government has been criticised over advertisements that promote its commitment to creating 200,000 jobs if it wins the 2014 state election. The Opposition’s Martin Pakula describes the ad as "blatantly" political, but Premier Denis Napthine says it is about government business rather than political advertising. The Coalition itself had been critical of the Australian Labor Party’s expenditure on government advertising when it was in office
