Treasurer Scott Morrison says "sensible governments" do not respond to by-election results by engaging in knee-jerk reactions. His comments come amid growing calls within the government to take a pragmatic approach to its corporate tax cuts package in the wake of the "Super Saturday" by-election results. Many believe the government should try to get as much of the package through the Senate as possible and then move on, rather than take the cuts to the next federal election if the Senate rejects the overall package. Morrison says the results of the by-elections on 28 July could not be attributed to just one issue.
