Macquarie Media has refused to comment on its negotiations with Alan Jones over a new contract for the radio broadcaster, as has Jones himself. Jones has had 216 consecutive rating wins for his broadcasting spot, while his radio station 2GB won survey eight of Sydney’s 2018 ratings surveys with a 14.1 per cent audience share. Not being able to re-sign Jones would mean reduced advertising revenue for Macquarie Media, as well as more angst for Macquarie Media’s parent company Nine Entertainment, following the axing of Karl Stefanovic from ‘Today’ in 2018.

PM takes on Jones over gas bans

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and his ministers are increasingly coming to the view that radio broadcaster Alan Jones is engaging in double standards on the question of gas prices. Jones has publicly advocated against onshore gas development in New South Wales for a number of years. Regulators, business and governments are generally of the opinion that allowing onshore gas development in NSW and other states would help to lower gas prices, and the Federal Government sees Jones’s constant attacks on it over gas prices as somewhat hypocritical.

Chief scientist may sue Jones over coal seam gas remarks

Original article by Nicole Hasham
The Sydney Morning Herald – Page: 9 : 6-Oct-14

Sydney talk show radio host Alan Jones, a long-standing critic of the coal seam gas (CSG) sector, has accused New South Wales (NSW) Chief Scientist Mary O’Kane of bias toward the industry. She had issued a report on 30 September 2014 that found any risk posed by CSG drilling activity was manageable, and she is now considering a defamation law suit against Jones. He has also been attacked by Tom Fontaine, chair of the Magnum Gas & Power company that has had its joint project with Apex Energy rejected by the NSW Planning Assessment Commission
