Private equity-owned GenesisCare operates 25 cancer treatment facilities in Australia, and is keen to pursue growth domestically and internationally. MD Dan Collins says the group is considering a range of options, including an IPO, although he says GenesisCare is in no hurry to list on the sharemarket. GenesisCare posted EBITDA of $A46.4m in 2013-14, with revenue of $242.5m for the financial year.

ASX Limited’s Max Cunningham says fewer companies are pursuing IPOs compared with the same period in 2014, but he adds that the IPO market remains healthy. However, the outlook for IPOs is uncertain following Greenstone’s decision to abandon its $A900m float after lack of support for investors at the stock’s proposed issue price. US breast rebuilding venture AirXpanders to float on ASX

US-based AirXpanders hopes to raise $A31.9m in an Australian IPO by issuing CHESS Depository Interests at $A0.50 apiece. Proceeds of the IPO will be used to finance the commercialisation of its Aeroform medical technology for women who elect to undergo breast reconstruction surgery following a mastectomy. The technology has been approved for use in Australia and Europe.

Medical cannabis start-up set to raise capital through ASX listing

MGC Global is seeking up to $A3m in an Australian IPO, and it will have a market capitalisation of about $A9.5m if the offer is fully subscribed. Israel-based MGC has proposed a backdoor listing via gold explorer Erin Resources, and it aims to commence the production of cannabinoid resin. Several other medical marijuana companies have previously listed on the Australian sharemarket.

MYOB owner dismisses criticism from Xero

A2 Milk shuns Asia as shares hit ASX

New Zealand-based The a2 Milk Company has built a significant market share in Australia in the last eight years. The group’s shares will debut on the Australian sharemarket on 31 March 2015, although it has not raised additional capital via the listing. CEO Geoff Babidge has outlined plans for the group to expand into the US and the UK. It will also seek to lift revenue from $NZ110.6m in 2013-14 to $NZ230m by 2015-16

Seven companies debuted on the Australian sharemarket during the first two months of 2015. Deloitte’s Ian Turner notes that these stocks have collectively gained 23 per cent since their IPOs. The market boasted a total of 74 IPOs in 2014, which raised a combined $A26bn. Turner cautions that the IPO market may not match this performance in 2015, noting that the float market had been subdued prior to 2014
