Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull will travel to China to participate in the Group of 20 summit meeting in the city of Hangzhou on 4-5 September 2016. As an advocate of trade liberalisation, Turnbull will express his concern about a trend towards protectionism and populism which is clearly visible in many parts of the world. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull will participate in a G20 meeting in the Chinese city of Hangzhou on 3-4 September 2016. The event will provide the Australian Government with an opportunity to reassure China that Australia is still interested in strengthening ties between the two countries. Australia’s relations with China have been negatively affected by the ban imposed on two Chinese companies bidding for Ausgrid, on national security grounds.
