A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that just over 7.4 million Australians aged 18+ (more than four in every 10) reported having had back pain at least once in the year to March 2016. Some 43.2 per cent of the 65+ age group have had back pain in the last 12 months, but 40.7 per cent of those in the 30-34 age group also had back pain. The survey also shows that a person’s occupation does not appear to increase the risk of back pain either, as 40.5 per cent of both labourers and clerical/admin workers have had back pain, while technicians and trades workers are more likely to be affected with back pain (43.2 per cent).
