The Productivity Commission will release a draft report on school students’ academic performance on 6 September 2016. The report concludes that students’ academic results have not improved despite a 24 per cent increase in federal and state funding for schools between 2004-05 and 2013-14. There was a 14 per cent increase in government funding per student over this period. Ken Boston, who helped develop the Gonski education reforms, has called for better allocation of government funding for schools.
