Media Super has paid $A1 million to acquire a 17 per cent stake in the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s instrument fund. The ACO instrument fund was launched in 2011, at which time unit prices were $A1.00; they were valued at $A1.40 in April 2017. It invests in stringed instruments, with its most recent purchase being the Amati Cello, which it acquired for $US1 million ($A1.4 million) in 2016. ACO MD Richard Evans says choosing a new instrument can be quite a lengthy process.
