The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference has advised that Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Philip Wilson as Archbishop of Adelaide. His resignation follows his conviction in May on charges he concealed child sexual abuse back in the 1970s, and followed calls from both Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and opposition leader Bill Shorten for the Pope to sack Wilson over his conviction.
