A report into the integrity risks to Australian sport has called for the establishment of a national sports integrity commission. Authors of the report included James Wood, who led a royal commission into police corruption. The report’s other recommendations include that match-fixing be made a federal criminal offence, that a national sports tribunal be established, that athletes, coaches and officials who provide inside information to bookmakers be subject to possible jail, and that the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority be given more powers and resources.
