Long delays for new vehicle buyers will ease later this year

Over one million new cars were sold in Australia in 2021, despite buyers experiencing long wait times, with 2021 sales being 14.5 per cent higher than in 2020. Toyota Australia executive Sean Hanley says that "longer than usual delivery times" are likely to remain an issue until March, while Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries chief executive Tony Weber is optimistic that delivery times will ease in 2022. Toyota had the biggest share of sales in 2021 with 21.3 per cent, while SUVs accounted for over half of new car sales
