Woolworths’ food and grocery suppliers were recently advised that the fuel levy for using its truck fleet in metropolitan areas will rise from 17.47 per cent to 19.88 per cent. Woolworths’ fuel levy was just 7.28 per cent prior to the start of the Iran war, and it has since been increased three times. There has also been a sharp increase in Woolworths’ fuel levy in regional and rural areas since the onset of the war. Woolworths’ suppliers are expected to increase their prices in response to the latest fuel levy rise, which is in turn likely to result in higher prices for grocery buyers.
