Woodside Energy will divest its stake in the undeveloped Greater Sunrise gas field in the Timor Sea, with its focus shifting to major growth projects. Timor-Leste’s state-owned oil and gas company Timor Gap will pay $285m for Woodside’s 33.44 per cent stake in the long-stalled project. It will now assume full ownership of the project, having recently agreed to buy the 10 per cent stake of Osaka Gas. Meanwhile, Woodside’s Browse LNG project is under renewed scrutiny after leaked 2023 documents from Western Australia’s Environmental Protection Authority show that it had raised concerns about Browse’s potential impact on Scott Reef.
