A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that 23.2 per cent of Australians aged 14+ went jogging on a regular or occasional basis in the year to March 2016, compared with 14 per cent in the year to March 2006. Jogging was the fastest-growing sport/exercise in Australia over the last 10 years, ahead of hiking/bushwalking, cycling and yoga. Men’s overall participation has increased from 16.4 per cent to 24.2 per cent, while the proportion of women joggers has almost doubled from 11.6 per cent to 22.2 per cent. The survey also shows that while jogging participation peaks among the 14-24 year-old age bracket, older age brackets have shown the biggest change – particularly among women.

ANZ-Roy Morgan Australian Consumer Confidence fell 1.9 per cent to 116.8 in the week ending 26 June 2016, only partially offsetting the rise the previous week. Despite the turmoil in global financial markets – driven by the surprise result in the UK referendum – households remain optimistic about their finances and the economic outlook. Last week’s easing in confidence was largely driven by a deterioration in consumers’ views towards the economic outlook. The indicator on "finances compared to a year ago" fell 2.3 per cent, and views towards "economic conditions in the next 12 months" fell nine per cent.

Market Research Update – Page: Online : 28-Jun-16

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that 34.3 per cent of Australians aged 14+ watch tennis on television occasionally or almost always. They are slightly more inclined than the average Australian to "find TV advertising interesting" (21.6 per cent vs 19.7 per cent) and less inclined to agree that "Nearly all TV advertising annoys me" (65.9 per cent vs 68.1 per cent). More than three-quarters of them watch Wimbledon broadcaster Channel 7 (and its affiliates) in an average seven days, well above the population average of 67.6 per cent. Meanwhile, the 1,025,000 million Australians (or 15.2 per cent of total tennis viewers) who play tennis themselves as well as watching it on TV, are not only more tolerant towards TV advertising than those who simply watch it on the box, but more likely to have cash to splash.
