Roy Morgan Research’s latest Young Australians Survey has found that 74 per cent of Australians aged 6-13 currently have personal savings, which total $A653m. The survey, which was carried out in the year to June 2014, also shows that the average amount saved by Australians in this age group is $A285, while 21.2 per cent have savings of less than $A50 and 10.2 per cent have savings of $A1,000 or more

Tubs of joy: Australians still love ice cream

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that 73 per cent of Australian grocery buyers purchased a tub or carton of ice cream at least once in the year to June 2014. The survey also shows that 19 per cent of Australians purchase ice cream in tubs or cartons once a month, while just three per cent do so every week. Some 20 per cent of grocery buyers purchase Bulla ice cream in an average four weeks, followed by Peters (17 per cent) and Streets (12 per cent)

Meat and greet: where Aussies buy their fresh meat

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that 73 per cent of grocery buyers in Australian cities bought fresh meat in an average seven-day period in the year to June 2014, compared with 72 per cent in 2010. Meanwhile, the number of grocery buyers in country areas who buy fresh meat has risen from 74 per cent to 77 per cent over the same period. The survey also shows that grocery buyers in the city are more likely than rural shoppers to buy their fresh meat from specialty retailers rather than supermarkets

Roy Morgan Research’s latest Young Australians Survey has found that 49 per cent of children aged 6-13 admired movie stars, rock or pop stars and other celebrities in the year to June 2014. This compares with 54 per cent in the year to June 2012. The survey also shows that the proportion of children who say they want to look cool has fallen from 56 per cent to 54 per cent over the last two years

More Aussie women getting sporty

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that 22 per cent of Australian women aged 14+ jogged regularly or occasionally in the year to June 2014. This compares with just 15 per cent in the year to June 2010. The number of women who participate in yoga has risen from 9.4 per cent to 14.4 per cent over this period, while participation in cycling has risen from 11 per cent to 16 per cent

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that 18 per cent of Australians aged 14+ visited a Group Buying website in an average four-week period during the year to June 2014. Some 63 per cent visit just one such website, while 31 per cent use two or three Group Buying websites. The survey also shows that Group Buyers are more likely than the average Australian to use coupons and shopper dockets, and to feel comfortable providing their credit card details online

A new survey by Roy Morgan Research shows that the Commonwealth Bank’s overall customer satisfaction rating has fallen by one per cent to 81.1 per cent. Meanwhile, Westpac’s rating has risen by 1.1 per cent to 81 per cent. The Commonwealth Bank has also fallen further in Roy Morgan’s measure of customers’ satisfaction with their main financial institution, ranking behind Westpac and the ANZ Bank. The Roy Morgan customer satisfaction data is used in determining Commonwealth Bank executives’ long-term incentives

Guardian Pharmacy guards top spot in customer satisfaction

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that Guardian Pharmacy had a customer satisfaction rating of 91 per cent in the year to August 2014. Rival chemist chains Priceline Pharmacy and Chemist Warehouse both had customer satisfaction ratings of 90 per cent, ahead of Amcal and Chemmart. Guardian was also the winner of its category in the 2013 Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Awards
