Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has no intention of revisiting the idea of Australia becoming a republic while Queen Elizabeth remains monarch. However, Turnbull, who was head of the Australian Republic Movement before becoming an MP, says the method by which Australians would elect a president in the event it becomes a republic could be decided by a postal ballot, and this would be held before any referendum on the issue.
