A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that 7,630,000 Australians aged 14+ bought at least one product online in an average four weeks during the year to December 2014. This compares with 5,704,000 in 2011. The survey also shows that 1,586,000 Australians bought food and beverages online in 2014, compared with 568,000 in 2011. Likewise, some 2,016,000 Australians bought reading material in an average four weeks in 2014, up from 1,095,000 in 2011. All of the top 10 online retail categories have increased in popularity since 2011

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that swimming is the most common sporting activity in Australia. The survey, which was carried out in the year to December 2014, shows that 14.4 per cent of Australian adults and children regularly go swimming, while 10.8 per cent go cycling and 8.2 per cent play soccer. Meanwhile, 45.3 per cent of Australians aged 14+ regularly go walking for exercise, ahead of going to the gym or weight training (13 per cent). The most popular sporting activities for Australians aged 6-13 are swimming (48.8 per cent) and soccer (48.7 per cent)

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that almost 13 million Australians aged 14+ took at least one holiday in the year to December 2014, while 32 per cent reported travelling with their partner. The survey also shows that people who take a holiday with their partner are more likely than the average Australian holiday-goer to visit historical sites, go to museums and art galleries, go bushwalking, play poker machines, dine out at restaurants and go to the theatre

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that 1.35 million Australian adults participate regularly in some kind of team sport. The survey, which was carried out in the year to December 2014, also shows that 25% of Australians aged 18+ reported experiencing stress at some point in the preceding 12 months, compared with just 21 per cent of those who regularly play a team sport. Some 12 per cent of regular team-sport players suffered from anxiety, compared with 16 per cent of the general population. Likewise, eight per cent of those who play regular team sport suffered from depression, compared with 14 per cent of the general population

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that 10 million Australians aged 14+ made at least one purchase from a chemist/pharmacy in any given four-week period in the year to December 2014. Guardian Pharmacy took out the 2014 Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Award for Chemist/Pharmacy of the Year, with an overall customer satisfaction rating of 92 per cent. However, 94 per cent of male customers were satisfied with the service they received at Guardian pharmacies, compared with 91 per cent of female customers

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that 67 per cent of Australians aged 14+ who are home phone customers were satisfied with their provider in the six months to December 2014. This is one per cent lower than in the same period during 2013. Southern Phone’s customer satisfaction rating rose by six per cent to 91 per cent in the second half of 2014, ahead of Internode (85 per cent) and its parent company, iiNet (77 per cent)

Self-Managed Super popularity linked to sustained Satisfaction lead

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that members of self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs) have consistently been more satisfied with their fund’s financial performance than members of other funds over the last 13 years. SMSFs scored a satisfaction rating of 77.3 per cent in the six months to January 2015, compared with 59 per cent for industry funds and 56.3 per cent for retail funds. The survey also shows that satisfaction with super increases with the balance held, although it is worth noting that SMSFs have the highest satisfaction for all balances over $A5,000

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey has found that 819,000 property-hunters in Melbourne visited Realestate.com.au via website or app and/or read the Herald Sun’s weekday or weekend real estate section in an average week during the year to December 2014. This is seven per cent higher than in 2013. Domain’s total audience, comprising both digital visitors and readers of the print sections of The Age, rose by four per cent to 486,000 in 2014. In Sydney, Domain’s total digital and Sydney Morning Herald print reach rose by 10 per cent in 2014, to 675,000 in an average week. The number of people accessing Realestate.com.au and/or the Daily Telegraph’s real estate section in an average week was virtually unchanged at 683,000

A Roy Morgan Single Source survey, which was carried out in the year to September 2014, has found that around 70 per cent of Australians aged 14+ who work in the Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane CBD have noticed public transport advertising in the last seven days. This includes ads inside or on the side of buses, trains, ferries and trams, at train stations, on platforms and in shelters. Meanwhile, around 65 per cent of CBD workers in Adelaide and 60 per cent in Perth reported seeing public transport ads in the past week
